NANJING! NAJING!

China, diciembre de 1937. El país está en guerra con Japón. Beijing y Shanghai ya han caído. Las tropas japonesas llegan a las puertas de Nanking, la capital. Después de semanas de bombardeos los oficiales locales y extranjeros han huido de la ciudad en ruinas. Lu, un carismático general chino, se propone firmemente echar al enemigo que lidera a sus hombres para defender la capital. Les queda poca munición y llegan los tanques japoneses, pero ellos se niegan a abandonar la ciudad.
Rodada con gran angular en blanco y negro, la película alterna el punto de vista de los japoneses y los chinos para pintar un retrato impresionista y convincente de las condiciones de la vida cotidiana en la devastada ciudad contando minuciosamente los dilemas éticos experimentados por los que sobreviven en tiempos de guerra.

China, December, 1937. The country is inside a war against Japan. Beiing and Shangai have been already defeated. The Japanese army reached the doors of Nanking, the capital. After weeks of bombing the local and foreign officials have run away from the ruins of the town. Lu, a charismatic Chinese general, proposes firmly expel the enemy who leads his army in order to defend the town. There are little bullets left and the Japanese tanks are arriving, but they refuse to leave their town.
The film, shot with white angle lens in black and white, alternates the Japanese and the Chinese points of view to paint an impressionist and convincing portrait of life conditions in the devastating town and tells in detail the ethic dilemma experimented by the survivors during war times.
