El grueso manuscrito llegó desde Estados Unidos a la editorial Cercle, donde Louise trabaja como asesora literaria, aparentemente nada más normal.
Lo que ya no lo es tanto es a novela en sí "La couleur de vent". Tampoco su autor Paul Madison.
Louise no ha leído nunca un libro así. La conmueve. A partir de entonces, empieza una relación con su autor que la distancia hace epistolar. Preta menos atención a Serge, el hombre que la ama. No tiene más que una obsesión: convencer a la editorial y a Colbert, el director, para publicar el libro de Paul, y que éste venga a París y mejore el texto.
