Esta pequeña película muda examina la adquisición del lenguaje y el aprendizaje. Como la cineasta estudió el idioma ucraniano, sus maestros le dieron una manera muy real de saborear el mes de julio.
This small, silent film examines language acquisition and learning. As the filmmaker studied Ukrainian language her teachers give her a very real way to taste the month of July.

En 2006 se fue a vivir a un pueblo cerca de la ciudad ucraniana de Uman. Sus ocho bisabuelos procedían del este de Europa y ella quería ver si podía hacerse una idea de cómo habían sido sus vidas. En el proceso se convirtió en parte de un pequeño pueblo donde ha estado viviendo los últimos 3 años. Sigue viviendo y trabajando en el pueblo, enseñando a los niños, trabajando la tierra, realizando pinturas e iniciando un programa de residencia para noveles para personas interesadas en la interrelación del arte y la agricultura. Ha dirigido el cortometraje Kalendar como homenaje a ese lugar.
She came to live in a village near the Ukrainian city of Uman in 2006. All eight of her great-grandparents had come from eastern Europe and she wanted to see if she could get a taste of what their lives had been like. In the process she became part of a small village where she has been living for the past 3 years. She continues to live and work in the village, teaching children, working the land, making paintings and starting a fledgling residency program for people interested in the intersection of art and agriculture. She has directed the short film Kalendar as a tribute to the place.
