En un cruce polvoriento de la ciudad desértica de Niamey, Níger, un mendigo lisiado se sienta en su silla de ruedas. Es Philippe Koudjina, en otro tiempo un fotógrafo de éxito. Los 60: en la euforia que siguió a la independencia, los jóvenes bailaban el twist y el rock’n’roll. Koudjina hacía fotos y se ganaba muy bien la vida. Ahora sus negativos, deteriorándose en un oxidado armario, podrían tener valor artístico.
At a dusty crossroads in the desert city of Niamey, Niger, a crippled beggar is sitting in his wheelchair. He is Philippe Koudjina, once a successful photographer. The 1960s: in the euphoria that followed independence, young people danced the twist and rock‘n’roll. Koudjina took snapshots and made a good living. Now his negatives, decaying in a rusty cabinet, may have an artistic value.

Paul Cohen: Nacido en 1957, estudió periodismo en Utrecht y cinematografía en la Academia Holandesa de Cine y Televisión de Ámsterdam. Desde 1980, ha trabajado como operador de cámara y también ha dirigido sus propios trabajos. Filmografía seleccionada: Part Time God (1992); The Winners (1996); Stefan Lorant, Man in Pictures (1997); The Saved (1998); Dutch Heroes (2000); Struggle of Perseverance (2003); Feet on the Ground/Garden of Eros (2004); I Am the Violin (2004); Photo Souvenir (2006). / Martijn van Haalen: Nacido en 1954, trabaja como mezclador y registrador de sonido y como realizador de televisión. En 2001 obtuvo el premio “Ternero de Oro” al mejor cortometraje documental en el Netherland Film Festival con Hollandse helden. Filmografía como director: Hollandse helden (2001), Photo Souvenir (2006).
Paul Cohen: Born in 1957, he studied journalism in Utrecht and film at the Dutch Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. Since 1980, he has worked as a cameraman for television and has also directed his own works.
