People of the Wasteland is an experimental short-film in a first-person point of view depicting the clashes of Syrian fighters in the front line. In the chaos of war, the lines between right and wrong become blurred. An exclusive Go-Pro footage.

Nació en Damasco en 1986 y estudió literatura árabe en la Universidad de Damasco. Trabajó como comentarista de radio y como coordinadora independiente para CNN, Al Arabiya y Reuters en Damasco y Beirut entre 2011 y 2013. En 2014, comenzó a recopilar imágenes para su primer cortometraje, People of the Wasteland. El mismo año, se mudó a Berlín donde trabajó como asistente de dirección de Talal Derki en la película Of Fathers and Sons, que ganó el Premio del Gran Jurado del World Cinema del Sundance Film Festival en 2018.
Heba Khaled was born in Damascus in 1986 and studied Arabic Literature at Damascus University. She worked as a radio commentator and as a freelance fixer for CNN, Al Arabiya and Reuters in Damascus and Beirut between 2011 and 2013. In 2014, she started collecting footage for her first short-film People of the Wasteland. The same year, she moved to Berlin where she assisted the filmmaker Talal Derki in the direction of his film Of Fathers and Sons, which has won the Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema Grand Jury Prize in 2018.
