En 1988, Coixet realizó su debut como guionista y directora con Demasiado Viejo Para Morir Joven, que le supuso una candidatura a los Goya al premio de Mejor Director Novel. El éxito internacional llegó en 2003 de la mano del drama intimista My Life Without Me (Mi vida sin mí). Su extensa filmografía recorre desde el documental a la ficción y ha sido reconocida internacionalmente. Algunos de sus títulos más recientes son; The Bookshop, Nobody Wants the Night o Another Me.
