LA VEREDA DE ENFRENTE

Un muchacho acompaña a otro a iniciarse con una prostituta de la Isla Maciel. «Si estás en la calle te llevan, si estás en un hotel te llevan, si tenés un macho te llevan… Yo no sé qué clase de putas quieren», reflexiona la chica. El sencillo planteo argumental del film es una excusa para realizar un ensayo descriptivo sobre ese «otro mundo» que está tan cerca de la Buenos Aires de apariencia europea. Formalmente, el cortometraje está al borde del amateurismo, pero lo que dice y muestra tiene un valor raro, una especie de virginidad grosera y provocativa, un anticipo reo de la crudeza que caracterizará el resto de la obra de Cedrón.

The simple plot is an excuse to carry out a descriptive essay on that «other world» that is so close to the European-looking Buenos Aires. Formally, this short verges on amateurism, but what it shows and tells has a rare value, a species of in-your-face, provocative virginity, a foretaste of Cedrón’s signature crudity.
