Carla Simón (1986) creció en un pequeño pueblo catalán. Estudió Comunicación Audiovisual en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona y en la Universidad de California. En 2011, recibió una beca para hacer un máster en la London Film School, donde dirigió Born Positive, Lipstick  and Those Little Things, todas seleccionadas en festivales internacionales. Su cortometraje más personal fue Lacuna, realizado a través de las cartas de su madre. El verano de 1993 es su ópera prima. Se estrenó en la Berlinale 2017, donde ganó el Premio a la Mejor Ópera Prima y el Premio del Jurado del Gran Premio Kplus de Generation. Ha recibido más de 30 reconocimientos en todo el mundo; representó a España para los Oscar, fue nominada a la EFA y ganó 3 Goyas. Carla también fue galardonada como el talento emergente de Women in Motion en Cannes 2018. Alcarràs es su segundo largometraje en desarrollo, con el Torino Film Lab, donde ganó el premio CNC, la residencia de Cannes y el programa Nipkow.

Carla Simón (1986) was raised in a small Catalan village. She studied Audio-visual Communication at the University Autonomous of Barcelona and University of California. In 2011 she was awarded with a scholarship to study a MA at the London Film School, where she directed Born Positive, Lipstick and Those Little Things, all selected in several international film festivals. Her most personal short film was Lacuna, made through her mother letters. Summer 1993 is Carla’s autobiographical debut. It premiered at the Berlinale 2017 where it won the Best First Film Award and the Generation Kplus Grand Prix Jury Award. The film has collected more than 30 prizes all over the world; it represented Spain for the Oscars, was nominated to the EFA and won 3 Goyas. Carla was also awarded as the emerging talent of the Women in Motion in Cannes 2018. Alcarràs is her second feature in development, taking part of the Torino Film Lab, where it won the CNC award, the Cannes Residency and the Nipkow program.
