ESE OSCURO OBJETO DEL DESEO

En el andén de una estación, Mathieu causa un pequeño escándalo al arrojar un cubo lleno de agua sobre la cabeza de una joven. Intrigados, los viajeros de su compartimento le preguntan por los motivos. Entonces Mathieu comienza su relato: conoció a Conchita en su casa de París, siendo la nueva doncella de origen español, mucho más joven que él. Rápidamente siente una gran pasión por ella. Por su parte, la joven le demuestra afecto, pero se afirma en su virginidad rehusando entregarse a él. Mathieu está dispuesto a todo y la pone a prueba con constancia y sin reproches.

On the platform of a rail station, Mathieu causes a little scandal by throwing a bucket full of water over the head of a young woman. The people travelling with him, curious about what they saw, ask about his reasons to do it. Then, Mathieu starts telling the story he met Conchita in his house of Paris, she was the new maid, of Spanish origin, much younger than him. Shortly he starts feeling great passion towards her. On her side, the young woman shows her affection, but she reaffirms her virginity refusing to give herself to him. Mathieu is ready to do anything and patiently and without reproaches tries her out.
