Poppy se establece en el frente oeste de Francia durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Dos soldados neozelandeses están atrapados en líneas enemigas. Encuentran a un bebe en una trinchera mugrienta, bajo sus padres muertos. Uno de los hombres quiere salvarlo, pero el otro no. Basado en hechos reales, Poppy se escribió por el nieto de uno de los soldados.
Poppy is set on France’s western front in World War One. Two New Zealand soldiers are trapped behind enemy lines. They find a baby in a muddy ditch, under its dead parents. One of the men wants to save it – the other does not. Based on true events, Poppy was written by the great-grandson of one of these soldiers.

James Cunningham ha escrito, dirigido y animado tres cortos teatrales galardonados antes de “Poppy”. “Infection” compitió en el Cannes International Film Festival 2000, Sundance Film Festival 2001 y en otros 20 Film Festivals. James ha terminado un curso de 3D Course Leader at Media Design School, en la mayor escuela de Animation and Visual Effects en New Zealand. Antes fue director of 3D en Digital Post trabajando con Visual Effects para anuncios de televisión, y ha sido director técnico en “The Lord of the Rings”. Es licenciado en Bellas Artes, en fotografía y posee un Master en Bellas Artes, en animación digital otorgado por Elam School of Fine Arts (Auckland, NZ).
James Cunningham has written, directed and animated three award winning theatrical shorts before “Poppy”. James has taken up the role of 3D Course Leader at Media Design School, the premier Animation and Visual Effects new media school in New Zealand. He was Head of 3D at Digital Post working on Visual Effects for TV Commercials, and he was a Technical Director on “The Lord of the Rings”. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and a Master of Fine Arts in digital animation from Elam School of Fine Arts (Auckland, NZ).
