En el mundo aparentemente intacto de una familia de clase media, su armoniosa fachada se desmorona debido a la imprevista visita de su pariente Paul, un joven de 16 años. Paul llega buscando cariño y apoyo tras el suicidio de su padre, mientras que su tía Anna lo utiliza como instrumento para mantener a su hijo Robert atado a ella. Cuando finalmente Anna se aparta de él, Paul, herido, reconoce que ya no queda nada que le vincule a esa familia y comete un acto desesperado.
In the aparent intact world of a middle class family, its harmonious facade crumbles due to the unexpected arrival of a relative, Paul, aged 16. Paul arrives looking for affection and support as his father has recently committed suicide, however, his aunt Anna uses him as a way of mainting hold of her son Robert. When Anna finally pushes him aside, Paul, hurt, realises that there is nothing keeping him attached to the family and he committs a desperate act.

Nació en Leiden, Holanda, en 1972. Estudió retórica así como Literatura alemana y francesa en París y Hamburgo donde se graduó con una tesis sobre el cine de Kieszlowzski. En 1998 comenzó sus estudios de Dirección en la Hochschule für Filmund Fernsehen “Konrad Wolf”, que terminó exitosamente en 2005. Tras realizar dos cortos en 2001 dirige el documental Menschen brauchen Hobbies. Matthias Luthardt se tituló en la primera Masterclass de la Academia de Cine Franco-Alemana (Academia de Cine Ludwigsburg / FEMIS Paris) y es miembro fundador de la productora Risingstar-Filmproduktion.
Born in Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1972. He studied rhetoric as well as German and French literature in Paris and Hamburg where he graduated with a thesis on Kieszlowski. In 1998 he began studying directing at the Hochschule für Filmund Fernsehen “Konrad Wolf”, which he successfully completed in 2005. After filming two short films in 2001, he directed the documentary Menschen brauchen Hobbies. He has a first Masterclass qualification from the French-German Film Academy (Film Academy Ludwigsburg/ FEMIS Paris) and is a founding member of Risingstar-Filmproduktion.
