En 1899, un cámara de la American Mutoscope & Biograph instaló su máquina frente a un tranvía que circulaba sobre el puente de Brooklyn. Se editaron tres rollos más para completar el viaje desde Manhattan hasta Brooklyn. Como la película se rodó en el efímero formato de 68 mm, no fue proyectada ante el público moderno hasta que fue restaurada recientemente en 35 mm por el British Film Institute. In 1899, a cameraman for American Mutoscope & Biograph mounted his camera to the front of a trolley travelling over the Brooklyn Bridge. Three 90-foot rolls were edited to together to complete the journey from Manhattan to Brooklyn. As the film was shot on the short-lived 68 mm. gauge, it had not been screened before modern audiences until it was recently restored to 35 mm. by the British Film Institute. The short film is based in this footage.
