Estamos en 1832; el cólera diezma la Provenza, dejando a su paso los cadáveres con el rosto azulado y con las muecas de atroces sufrimientos. Pero Angelo el fugitivo aprovecha su tiempo para atender, para reanimar a las inocentes víctimas hasta el límite de sus fuerzas. Aprovecha también el tiempo, imperturbable y sereno, para amar a la joven Pauline de Théus, que se lanza a los caminos a la busca de un marido misterioso, quizá ya muerto.

We are im 1832, cholera decimates the region of Provence, leaving behind it blue faced corpses, with the gesture of atrocious sufferings. But Angelo takes his time to care,to reanimate the innocent victims to the limit of his strength. He also takes his time, unchangeable y serene , to silently love the young Pauline de Théus, who throws herself to the paths in search of a mysterious husband, perhaps already dead.
